Chad Taylor

April 5, 1974 - June 7, 2025

Chad Christian Taylor, 51, of Sherman, Texas, passed away on June 7, 2025. He was born on April 5, 1974, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Jimmy Taylor and Kay Moncrief.

Chad dedicated over 25 years of his life to public service through his work in law enforcement. He proudly served in police departments across Balch Springs, his hometown of Burleson, and found his police home in Farmers Branch, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant. He also continued his commitment to community service as a long-time member of the Melissa City Council.

Beyond his professional life, Chad was a devoted father and a passionate family man. He cherished family trips, movie nights watching scary films with his boys, and being involved in their sports activities. His love for good food was matched only by his love for those closest to him. Chad also found great peace at the beach—he loved seeing the ocean, feeling the sand beneath his feet, and watching the sunset over the water.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents, Jimmy Taylor and Kay Moncrief. He is survived by the mother of their children, Rachel Taylor; his beloved sons, Parker Taylor and Hudson Taylor; many extended family members; and dear friends he proudly considered family.

A memorial service celebrating Chad’s life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church in Denison, Texas with lunch proceeding. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Texoma Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, his sons are requesting a donation be made to a charity listed below that are dear to their hearts.

I love you brother so very much and I know you are in Heaven. You will be missed by everybody. Thank you for being an encouragement to me always. I remember us dancing country in the kitchen years ago and God actually reminded me of that Himself. He also spoke through you when He through you that I my purpose which God confirmed that He does His purpose in all of us.. I’m so thankful for you and Gods will being done in my life and you upholding God and Jesus Christ and The Holy Ghost will as a law enforcement officer at Farmers Branch Police Department for 27 years. You answered the call of Jesus and The Spirit of Truths Righteousness by you enforcing the laa of the land that God set forth to maintain order in our land and in the whole earth. I had the honor of being Chad’s first Field Training Officer at the Balch Springs Police Department. Even then, it was clear that he was something special. Chad was the best rookie I ever trained — sharp, courageous, and full of heart. He approached the job with quiet strength and a deep sense of duty, and he treated everyone he encountered with respect and compassion. He made me proud, and I know he made his family proud, too. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Chad’s memory will live on in the lives he touched and the example he set

    With deepest sympathy,

The man, the myth, the legend.. but most importantly the shit stirrer. Every moment with you was one filled with laughs and quick comebacks. I always loved to hear stories of your crazy antics. I hope the ride up there on the outside of the bus was better than the ones on the way to school.

It always sucks not having more time but I know the time we had wasn’t taken for granted. I love you uncle Chad.
    Rest easy, Hollywood.

    Uncle Chad,

Where do I even begin? Thank you for everything you have done for me in life. Thank you for having me apart of your wedding as a young 2 year old (that’s definitely a big ask and task), thank you for having my brothers and I stay the night at yours and Aunt Rachel’s house many times when we were younger. I loved it so much that when you asked me to stay the night after a family Christmas at 22 years old, I couldn’t help but say “absolutely!”. From the times playing “Around the World” on the park basketball court by your house in Arlington, watching Grease with a younger Christian and I (you definitely watched it when you said you didn’t), having us at your house in McKinney and taking us to the community pool, and so much more. You’re the one man I always looked so forward to seeing at family events and the first one I had to absolutely make a b-line for and give a hug. I’ll miss you, your humor, the way you would show me “police moves”, and the way you lit up the room. Rest in Peace, “Hollywood”. I love you. I’ll make sure I make a b-line towards you for another hug when I see you again.
