Kenneth Wayne Gatlin

July 21, 1951 - June 19, 2025

Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Gatlin, 73 of Denison, was called home on Thursday June 19, 2025.

Kenny was born in Bonham, Texas on July 21, 1951, to Charles Kenneth” Skeeter” Gatlin and wife Frances. His childhood was spent there in Bonham doing typical shenanigans any boy in a small town might do in the 50 & 60’s. He spent lots of time riding his Honda motorcycle, swimming at Bonham State Park, hanging out with friends at the square and cruising the drag. While in High School, Kenny received his pilot’s license and enjoyed going flying with friends. Kenny graduated from Bonham High School in 1969 and went to work at Fisher Controls as a Machinist while also taking classes at Grayson College in Photography and Computer Sciences. Kenny enjoyed playing golf, where in 1984 he made a “hole in one” at Gainesville Municipal Golf Corse, fishing, hunting, grilling, listening to classic rock, and spending time with friends. In later years Kenny worked as a Field Service Engineer at Sherman Medical Center and Omnicell. After retirement he spent his free time gardening and going to the casino with his wife Peggy.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Wife Peggy Gatlin, Son Cole Gatlin and wife Lisa of Denison, TX . , Son Christopher Gatlin and wife Jessica of Pottsboro, TX. , Stepdaughter Becky Grantland of Oklahoma City, OK, Stepson John Miller of Ridgeland, MS,   Brother Kevin Gatlin ,  Sister-In-law Kim Six , Nephew Kirk Gatlin  , Neice Kari Kruger all of  Rogers AR. , Grand kids Grace Blood, Emma Wiley, Callie Gatlin, Clara Gatlin, Granger Gatlin, And Greer Gatlin.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 25 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard in Denison, Tx from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. with a grave side service 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 26 at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham Tx.

One day you’re here, the next you’re gone.

The next time we will talk, it will be far too long.

Every day, something will remind me of you,

A cold beer, the Cowboys game, the smell of grilled food.

Your absence will leave a void I don’t think I’ll ever fill,

But I know you’ll be there with me every day, still.

Love You, Dad

I am sending prayers for your peace and strength in the coming days. Ken was a good friend to Greg and later became a good friend to me and Cynthia. He had a sweet and sensitive side which we discovered when he became our “otheruber” driver to many places. He never failed to entertain us with a Lynyrd Skynyrd song as we rode along. Peace be with you all.

So very sad to hear about Kenny passing. I had recently connected with Kenny, as he knew my older brother Glen Nash. They had a musical band/business connection.
    RIP Kenny….

You have been a dear friend for many years because of my brother, Greg Forgy, who was one of your practically lifetime pals – brothers. You have been taken much too soon, but we know you were in pain and now that is gone. Little “brother”, I will miss you terribly. Love to you and your family,.

I didn’t finish saying what I needed to. Kenny was brilliant in more than one field of learning, yet he was a gentle soul who would help out when it was needed, like the times he took Gibbie and me to Walmart. Cole, your comments were so sweet and I hope you won’t mind me saying that. Peggy – Cole – Lisa – to the rest of his faimily – I pray that you will get through the very difficult times ahead. You all will be in my prayers. I have only known Peggy and met Cole once, but I love all of you.
