Pauline Frances Byrom Gabbert, 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Texoma Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Fairview Cemetery Chapel with Chaplain Samson Naidoo officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service time at Fairview Chapel.
Mrs. Gabbert was born on January 7, 1925 in Bonham, Texas to Charlie Herod and Dora Mae Fogle Carruth. She attended Denison High School and married J.W. Byrom on December 14, 1946 in Rockwall, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1986. She later married Earl Gabbert on October 1, 1988 in Denison, and he also preceded her in death on October, 6, 1997. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2773 in Denison, and was a homemaker that also worked as a beautician out of her home.
Survivors include her daughter, Darla Wakefield and husband Gary; brothers, Charles Carruth and wife, Charlene, Bill Carruth, Eugene Carruth and wife, Camille, and Richard Carruth; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and Henry Hodges; sisters-in-law, Louise Carruth and Bettye Carruth; mother-in-law, Abby Upton; and step-daughter Myrene McKaskle.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Journey to Healing Foundation, PO Box 574, Durant, OK 74702
Arrangements are under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Denison Funeral Home

    I grew up 2 houses down from Darla, we were best friends for as long as I can remember. Her Mom was a wonderful lady who was always sweet, generous and loving! She will be missed greatly! Sorry Darla for your loss, I still love you after all these years!!
