Maw Maw taught me about yogurt and avocados…she introduced me to a lot of new things about food. That was always fun. She taught me how to sew, I made an apron one rainy day at her house (I still have the apron), we played dominoes and we played gin rummy. She also taught me how to crochet, I made a chain stitch as long a her house times two one week when I was staying with her; we did that one week while we were waiting on Paw Paw to get home. She always used to say “Well Cheryl Dawn, I don’t know what to do with little girls, I had three boys.” but that was not true she and I had a great time…every time! Cheryl Dawn

I always enjoyed traveling to Denison from Tyler to visit with Aunt Vick and Uncle Bob. Aunt Vick was a classy lady with a funny since of humor. I loved her voice. She will be missed greatly in our family, especially her sister, Aline. With Sympathy; Denise Coffin Thornton

Grandma Wineinger always made me the prettiest little frilly dresses. I would watch in amazement as she carefully sat and sewed, thinking I wish she made all my dresses. As I grew up we loved to paint our nails, play dominoes, and card games. When maw maw begain to forget who I was, it was hard, especially when she was a bit violent. See grandma unfortunatly had alzheimer’s disease that made her act contrary to her normally happy, plesant, and snazzy self. It was hard to watch her slowly pass away from this time to a different place and time, but I loved her and visited her. This last Christmas season, while visiting her one morning she was unussually alert, she held my hands, we listened to Jewel’s lullabies, and I powdered her arms with her favorite Chantilly Lace powder. That was the first and last time for years that she was with me, she was there, and I was so pleased. I am going to remember you that way maw maw. I will always remember that hour or two that just you and I shared before you flew away.

The photo does her well too, I remember visiting her at her home on that corner in Denison it was so much fun.
