Margie Marie Wilson
October 19, 1933 ~ January 23, 2026
My mom, Margie Marie Wilson, was married to Vurlas Lane Wilson, who worked for the Katy Railroad in Denison as a welder and was also a farmer who repaired equipment, especially bulldozers. She made sure she could work if needed by becoming a cosmetology graduate with a Texas license. She never needed to work outside the home but lovingly did her family’s hair.
She was a wonderful seamstress, making beautiful clothes for me and my brother, Jackie Lane, as well as quilts, and she crocheted and knitted sweaters and afghans. She was also an artist, painting beautiful pictures that friends and family cherished. She made birthday cakes with fantastic decorative flower designs, played the guitar, and sang country and western songs, teaching me—her daughter, Connie—to sing and play the guitar.
Margie planted vegetable gardens to feed her family and helped Daddy care for the sheep and cows we raised. She loved hunting for arrowheads, digging for antique bottles in old dumps, fishing at Lake Texoma, and especially fishing in the tanks (ponds) Daddy made with his bulldozers.
After Daddy retired from the Katy Railroad, they bought a camping trailer and traveled to Florida, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico, enjoying camping and fishing together.
Margie is survived by daughter Connie Strattman and husband Stephen, Connie’s daughter Christy McKinney and husband Shane who have 2 daughters, Chase and Alyssa: Connie’s daughter Amy Prisk and husband Josh.
