Joseph Francis Capuro Jr., 97, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026. He was born on July 31, 1929, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Joseph and Florence Capuro.

Joseph graduated from high school in Newburgh, New York, in 1947. He went on to build a long and successful career in memorial sales with Woodlawn Cemetery in Woodlawn, New York, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring.

Joseph was proud of his Italian heritage and took great pride in his family and the many experiences that shaped his life. He was a proud Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. In 1947, he had the great honor of attending the World Scout Jamboree in France, an especially meaningful experience following the end of World War II.

Outside of his career and scouting, Joseph enjoyed fishing and cooking. He was also a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club, where he valued fellowship and service to his community.

Joseph was married to his beloved wife, Nancy, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Florence Capuro, as well as his adoptive parents, Antonio and Jenny Crinieri, who provided a loving family and planted the seeds of values that became the foundation he carried into his life with Nancy. They built a legacy of love shared with their children and all those around them.

He is survived by his sons, Joe Capuro; Tony Capuro and wife, Susan; John Capuro and wife, Ann; and his daughter, Mary Evans and husband, Mark. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nathan Capuro, Jennifer Makowski and husband, Joseph, and great grandson Sebastian Makowski.

Joseph leaves behind a legacy of dedication, service, family, and pride in his heritage. He will be remembered by his family and friends for the life he lived, the people he served, and the many memories he created throughout his 97 years.
