Neldah Jane Cox

Neldah Jane Cox, age 89, of Southmayd, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, in Denison, Texas.
She was born on April 16, 1936, in McKinney, Texas, to Leonard and Lela Beatrice (Snider) Vier. Neldah devoted her life to faith, family, and service to others, touching countless lives through her kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication.
Neldah was a devoted pastor’s wife from 1965 until 1989, faithfully supporting her husband, Rev. Donald Cox, and their ministry. In 1972, following a tragic accident in which her husband broke his neck, she lovingly provided total care for him until his passing in 1989. Her strength, selflessness, and quiet perseverance were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Following that chapter of her life, Neldah became a private in-home caregiver, continuing her lifelong calling of caring for others. She later served faithfully as a paid church nursery worker for many years and retired at the age of 84, a testament to her dedication and love for children and her church family.
She is survived by her daughters, Leilani Judd, eldest, and Sheila Robinson; grandchildren, Nathyn Hayes and wife Catherine, Shyelye Balak, Mandi Cox, Adrienne Shearin, Cory Cox and wife Amber, and Stormie Cox and husband Matt; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lela Beatrice Vier; her husband, Rev. Donald Cox; her son, Gregory Cox; and her siblings, Joe Vier, Gene Vier, and Marlys Newman.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 1 PM in the sanctuary of Community North Baptist Church, 2500 Community Avenue, McKinney, Texas 75071.
Neldah was loved by many and will be remembered for her servant’s heart, deep faith, and the countless lives she touched in a positive way.
