Willie Jean Smith, 76 of Pottsboro passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Homestead of Sherman, with her loving family by her side.
Jean (Missy) was born on November 7, 1937 in Fannin County, TX to John W. and Mary A. Melton. She graduated from Whitewright High School, and then married Roy Junior Smith on December 23, 1968 in Durant, OK. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2012.
Mrs. Smith worked on the assembly line at Texas Instruments and was a member of the Hallmark Club. She also loved planting flowers and was a talented seamstress and loved to embroider. She will be missed dearly by all those who loved her and her memory will be cherished for eternity.
Graveside services to Celebrate the Life of Willie Jean, will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 9, 2014 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman with Reverend Roger Speers officiating. Family visitation will be held Thursday night from 6 PM to 8 PM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Denison Funeral Home in Denison.
Survivors include her brothers, Russell Melton and wife, Linda and John Melton and wife, Ginger all of Sherman, and Larry Melton of Whitewright; sisters, Bonnie Woodworth and husband, Lewis of Anchorage, Alaska, Mary Souther and husband, Gerald of Sherman, Helen Jones of Tom Bean, Linda Callahan and husband, Gerald and Donna Hiserote and husband, David, all of McKinney and Kathy Barton and husband, Ben of Southmayd; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and her loving dog, Casper
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; brothers Bobby L. Melton and James Fred Melton; and two infant brothers.
