Bernard Anthony “Tony” Kruzensk, Jr., 60, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at his home in Denison where he settled after retiring from the Navy.
Tony was born in Chateaurox, France on December 15, 1957, the son of Lt. Col. Bernard Anthony and Sylvesta Dragg Kruzensk, Sr. He graduated from Denison High School in 1976 and attended Grayson County College. Tony served his country in the United States Navy and retired as a Senior Chief. He was a navigator on the U.S.S. Nathan Hale and the U.S.S Puffer, then spent seven years in Pearl City, HI. He was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal with Gold Star, Meritorious Unit Commendation with Bronze Star, Navy “E” Ribbon, Navy Expeditionary Medal with Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Arctic Service Ribbon, 5 Good conduct Awards and Sea Service Deploy Ribbon.
Tony loved his family, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Texas Tech Red Raiders and his boat. He spent endless hours on Lake Texoma with his friends, especially Charlie Thomas, his mom and sisters’ families.
Tony is survived by his son, Bernard Anthony Kruzensk, III of Wichita, Kansas; sisters, Patricia Casey and her husband, Lt. Col. (retired) Kevin of Anchorage, Alaska, Susan McMillan and her husband, Tommy of Plainview, TX.; half-sister, Laurie Beard of Heldsburg, CA; nephews, Robert Casey and his wife, Larissa of Anchorage, Chance McMillan and his wife, Kelsey of Plainview; nieces, Lori Johnston and her husband, Lt. Col. James of Ft. Knox, Kentucky, Stacey Roberts and her husband, Doug of Heldsburg, CA and Suzy Beard of Santa Rosa, CA.; great nieces, Rileigh and Madeline Johnston and Evelyn and Phoebe Casey; great nephews, Grayson, Cameron and Lane McMillan and Vincent Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; half-sister, Janie Kruzensk and nephew, Rory Casey.
His memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June11, 2018 at DFW National Cemetery with Military Honors.
