Jerry Don McAden

Jerry Don McAden, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, in Houston, Texas. A resident of La Porte, Texas, Jerry was born on November 14, 1943, in Denison, Texas, to the late Eldridge Eugene and Freddie Lee McAden. Jerry shared a special bond and spent a large amount of his childhood with his grandparents, John and Carrie Lee Henson.

Jerry dedicated his professional life to the railroad industry, serving as a Trainmaster and holding various positions across operations, sales, and construction. His career spanned many years with both the Southern Pacific (SP) Railroad and the Union Pacific (UP) Railroad, where he was known for his hard work and expertise. Outside of work, Jerry was deeply involved in his community as a proud Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Scottish Rite. An avid outdoor sportsman, he found great joy in hunting, maintaining his gun collection, and raising cattle and horses. His home was often filled with the sounds of Blues, Zydeco, and Motown, and he took great pleasure in cooking for those he loved.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Caroline Dean McAden. He was a devoted father to his surviving children: Laura Mueller (Leon H. Mueller, Jr.), Rachel Hayes (Thomas L. Hayes, Jr.), Tangina Sanders (Larry Sanders), Sheramy Hoge (Thomas Hoge), and Shondel McPherson. He is also survived by his sisters, Judy Evans (Clint Evans, Sr.) and Glenda Mitchell, as well as a large extended family including 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, along with his nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Monty Lynn Wiese; his parents, Eldridge Eugene and Freddie Lee McAden; his brother, Larry Gene McAden; in-laws Oliver and Jonnie Pearl Dean; and his niece, Amy Lee Evans Lara.

A funeral service to honor Jerry’s life will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, located at 401 W. Woodard Street, Denison, TX 75020. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro, TX.
